12 tell-tale signs that you're a SaaS Sales Ninja
Over the 20+ I've been in IT sales I've observed some characteristics of successful sales people. The SaaS sales person really has to have a 360 degree view of what success looks like for both the client and the company they work for. Which is why being successful in SaaS sales demands a high degree of intelligence and tech literacy.
So what is the secret sauce? How do you know if you're a Saas Sales Ninja?
Here goes!
12 tell-tale signs that you're a SaaS Sales Ninja
- You understand that it's not just about the software, it's about people (your clients) achieving demonstrable results.
- You have an agile and growth mindset. You research, prospect, experiment, fail fast, and double down on what works.
- You love technology, not just looking for ways for your SaaS product to integrate tighter, but also trying out tools to help you be more productive.
- You love learning about business and see yourself as a business consultant.
- You get that mutual respect and good collaboration skills are essential. When you treat your colleagues and customers right they will support you all the way through the most challenging of projects.
- You take the initiative: if the deck doesn't exist you get stuck in.
- You are insatiably curious about customers. Is their company growing? What processes are working well or not well? What is their management culture? What are their decision criteria? Are they the right buyer profile? Are they just shopping around? What will make them look good?
- You know that one of your USPs is as a customer advocate and that bringing feature requests and suggestions to your product team will result in a better product and a happier customer.
- Customer success is everything: a happy customer will give testimonials and referrals.
- You don't waste time on opportunities that are going nowhere.
- You see yourself as an intra-preneur, and being your own boss keeps you motivated every day. You prefer to think of commission as profit share.
- You understand the importance of a positive mindset. As the saying goes "love your job and you'll never have to work a day in your life".
